If not, you will not be missed …

The worlds of Warhammer are both grim and dark but they are unlike the real world just fantasy ones. As the real falls into dark void of the Corona pandemic and racial violence, Games Workshop stepped up and declared its position.

Personally, I find this great. And I hope that Games Workshop continues to push for a more inclusive and diverse hobby. The real world, in contrast to the oppressive hell of the Imperium, should be a great place for everyone, as corny as that might sound, but it really should. A great place of equal opportunity and equal rights. We all have a responsibility to make that happen. And those who do not want to tag alone on this great journey … well, they won’t be missed.

Take care, everyone!

    1. Yeah, I wholeheartedly agree. I especially like the last paragraph, as it both defuses the notion that money is everything (they’re literally saying, we don’t need your money, get lost) and it ties into the 40k lore as it reuses the end of the old prologue:

For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, and for whom blood is drunk and flesh eaten. Human blood and human flesh – the stuff of which the Imperium is made.

To Be A man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. This is the tales of these times. It is a universe you can live today if you dare – for this is a dark and terrible era where you will find little confort or hope. If you want to take part in the adventure then prepare yourself now. Forget the power of technology, science and common humanity. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for there is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

But the universe is a big place and, whatever happens, you will not be missed …

      1. It’s been nice to see some of the media I follow who usually avoid politics just come out and say “fuck those guys” recently. I also recognised the quote from back in the day. It was a nice touch, and well used. 🙂

  1. This is just excellent – well done for GW for speaking up. A firm reminder to bigots of all stripes to fuck off, and to keeping fucking off – preferably forever. Generally I’ve found this hobby to be a uniting factor, exactly as they’ve described, bringing people together from all kinds of backgrounds, views and political persuasions. So long as someone is happy to find common ground, share a love of the hobby, listen to the views of others (and be listened to in turn) then they’re welcome in my book. If they can’t do that then there’s the door, better that GW tells them firmly to get lost now than allows them to spoil the fun for the rest of us 😀
