Paint job: Shardwrack Spines

My Shardwrack Spines are all done and I’m really happy with the result. And it was quick too. If only I could paint units at the same pace … Anyway the paint job is simple but not rushed.

I wanted the Shardwrack Spines to have weird feel but not a psychedelic one. This is not Felucia. I also wanted the Deathworld plants to go well together with my Albino Forest trees. So bleak and pale it is. Check them out (again the photo quality is pretty bad).

My overall experience with the kit is positive. Surprisingly positive! A single kit is great scatter terrain but I might have to get another one to make a really dense section on the battlefield. Or should I get the new Outpost Pythos IV big box?

Any thoughts?

  1. They look great man. As mentioned in your last post I was dubious about them but now seeing them painted I’ve done a backflip. They look cool with the Marine Squad. Hi the outpost mate you know you want to haha.

  2. I’m really not familiar with that kit at all but you’ve pulled it off quite nicely. If I ever see it for a decent price I have to say I’d probably pick it up now.
As for whether it’s worth getting the larger kit… depends on how discounted the overall contents are and how much you’d like to get the rest of the stuff…

    1. Cheers mate! I’m glad you like. The big box got quite the discount but I’m on the fence regarding some of the kits. The GW paint job on the Deathworld pieces is convincing.

  3. I agree with the others, I like how you painted them as well, and I also like them better than the Children of the Sixties approach that GW took.
